Privacy Policy

Last updated 5 November 2026

The short version. We only collect what Score Right needs to work: your email to log you in, your name, your society's roster, scores and results, and anything you choose to add such as photos or your club distances. Your location is used on your phone to measure distances and isn't stored by us. We don't sell your information, we don't show adverts and we don't use tracking or advertising cookies.

Who we are

Score Right is run by Score Right Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17559309), registered office 6 St. Edmunds Way, Harlow, England, CM17 0BN. We are the controller of the personal information described here and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration number ZC292712).

Questions or requests about your information: hello@scoreright.golf.

This policy covers the Score Right app (iPhone, Android and web), the website scoreright.golf, and societies that use Score Right with a society code instead of logins.

What we collect

Your account

Your golf

People added by a captain

Captains and admins can add players to their society's roster, with a name, handicap and photo, even if those players don't have a login. Captains must only add people who are happy to be included (see our Terms). Anyone on a roster can ask us to correct or remove their details.

Location

If you allow it, the GPS screen uses your phone's location to measure distances to the green and hazards and to measure your shots. This happens on your phone: we don't store where you are. Two features send a location to our server: "Courses near me" sends your position so we can list nearby courses, and the wind reading sends the position of the course (not you). We keep a rounded version (to about 1 km) for up to 30 days so the same answer can be reused.

Watching rounds

When you watch someone's round, the players in it can see your name and how long you've been watching. This is cleared within an hour of you stopping.

On your phone

The app keeps your login, your settings and a copy of your society's scores on your phone (so you can score with no signal). This stays on the device and is cleared when you log out. We don't use cookies for advertising or tracking, and we don't use analytics services.

Payments (when available)

Paid plans will be bought through Apple, Google or our payment provider, Stripe. They handle your card details; we only receive confirmation of what you bought and when it runs until.

Who sees your information

Some of these companies may handle information outside the UK. When they do, it is protected by the UK's adequacy rules or approved contract terms.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Email hello@scoreright.golf and we'll reply within one month. It's free. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, though we'd like the chance to put it right first.

Age

Score Right is for golfers aged 14 and over. If you're under 18, please show this policy to a parent or guardian before you sign up. We don't ask for more than we need from anyone, we don't show adverts, profiles are only visible inside your own societies, and your location is only used on your phone when you allow it. We don't knowingly hold information about anyone under 14 who has signed up; if you think someone under 14 has an account, let us know and we'll remove it. (A captain can still add a younger player's name and scores to a society roster with their parent or guardian's agreement.)

Keeping it safe

Information is sent over encrypted connections. Each society's data is kept separate by security rules in our database, so only its members can see it, and only captains, admins and the right players can change scores. If a breach ever put your information at risk, we would tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app or by email if the change is important.
