Terms of Use
Last updated 5 November 2026
The short version. Score Right helps golf societies score and run their events. Be fair to other members, only add people who are happy to be added, and remember that handicaps and distances are guides, not official figures. Everything a free member needs stays free; Members Plus adds extras and can be cancelled at any time.
About these terms
These terms are between you and Score Right Ltd (company number 17559309, registered office 6 St. Edmunds Way, Harlow, England, CM17 0BN), which runs the Score Right app and scoreright.golf. By creating an account or using Score Right you agree to them. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Who can use Score Right
You must be 14 or over. If you're under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian (whoever pays the bill) before you buy Members Plus or anything else in Score Right. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play can be approved by them through Apple's or Google's family settings. You're responsible for keeping access to your email safe, since that's how you log in, and for everything done through your account.
Societies
- Whoever starts a society is its owner. Owners and the admins they choose run the society: its roster, events, settings and scores.
- Members can score their own cards and, depending on the society's settings, the cards in their group.
- Owners and admins must only add people to the roster (with names, handicaps and photos) who are happy to be included, and must remove anyone who asks.
- Disagreements about results, handicaps or society rules are for the society to settle. We can't referee them, though we're happy to help with how the app works.
Using Score Right fairly
Please don't:
- enter scores or change results you know to be false, or interfere with other people's cards;
- upload anything offensive, unlawful or that you don't have the right to share (including photos of people who haven't agreed);
- try to get into societies or accounts that aren't yours, get round Members Plus, or disrupt the service;
- copy, resell or scrape the app, its course data or its maps.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
Handicaps, distances and money
- Handicaps: the Score Right handicap is an estimate based on the rounds in the app. It is not an official Handicap Index, and Score Right isn't connected with the World Handicap System, England Golf or any golf union.
- Course details and distances come from course databases, map providers and your phone's GPS. They can be out of date or inaccurate, so check ratings against the course scorecard and use distances as a guide.
- Skins and stakes: the app only keeps a record of amounts your society agrees. Score Right never takes, holds or pays out money, and doesn't take part in any bet.
- Out on the course, look up from the screen: your safety and other golfers' are your responsibility.
Free use and Members Plus
- Score Right is free to use for society events, scorecards, leaderboards, Stableford and Stroke Play friendlies and your handicap estimate.
- Members Plus adds extras such as the GPS rangefinder, wind, your bag and club yardages, stats, every friendly format and Themes. New accounts get a 14-day free trial.
- When paid plans are available, the price and what's included will be shown before you buy. Plans bought through the App Store or Google Play are billed and cancelled there, under Apple's or Google's terms. Plans bought on our website are billed by Stripe and can be cancelled at any time by emailing us; you keep Plus until the end of the period you've paid for.
- Your legal rights as a consumer, including to a refund when something isn't as described, aren't affected by these terms.
- We may change what's included in free use or Members Plus. If a change reduces what you've paid for, we'll tell you first, and you can cancel and get a refund for the unused part.
Your content
Your scores, photos and other content stay yours. You allow us to store and show them in Score Right to the people your societies' settings allow, so the app can work. The Score Right name, logo and app are ours.
Availability and changes
We work hard to keep Score Right running, including scoring with no signal, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of mistakes. We may update, change or stop parts of the service. If we ever close Score Right we'll give you notice and a way to get a copy of your information.
Our responsibility to you
We're responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We aren't responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, for business losses, or for problems caused by things outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.
Ending your account
You can stop using Score Right and delete your account at any time, in the app ("Delete my account", under your name) or by emailing hello@scoreright.golf. If you're the only owner of a society that has other members, you'll need to make one of them an owner first, so the society isn't left without one. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and will tell you why.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we'll update the date at the top and tell you in the app or by email if the change matters. Carrying on using Score Right after that means you accept the new terms.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
